Game Overview

Ever tried robbing a grumpy old man's house while he's asleep? That's The Miser's House in a nutshell—this weirdly charming MS-DOS game where you tiptoe through a mansion full of traps, trying to grab treasure without getting caught. The first time I played, I thought "how hard could it be?" and immediately set off a tripwire that dropped an anvil on my head. Lesson learned.

The place feels alive in that janky old-school way—floorboards creak at the worst moments, paintings hide secret switches, and half the furniture is probably rigged to collapse on you. My favorite part? The miser himself, who'll come shuffling out of nowhere if you're too loud, waving his cane like a sleep-deprived grandpa. It's equal parts tense and silly, especially when you're desperately stuffing gold coins in your pockets while some Rube Goldberg trap slowly activates in the background.

Honestly, it's the kind of game where you'll fail spectacularly ten times before figuring out that one dumb painting was the key all along. But when you finally pull off a perfect heist? Pure satisfaction. Just don't get too greedy—the house always wins eventually.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
