Remember those weird, janky Simpsons games from the early '90s? Bart's House of Weirdness is one of those—a bizarre little platformer where you sneak around Springfield causing chaos while grounded. You start trapped in Bart's room (classic Homer and Marge move), but of course, he busts out fast. The whole thing plays out in these single-screen levels—basically like hopping between weird little dioramas of Simpsons locations.

First you're crawling through the attic swatting spiders with a slingshot, then the basement's full of ghosts for some reason? Later you end up in an Itchy & Scratchy dream sequence, which is exactly as violent as you'd expect. The weapons are ridiculous—spray paint, water balloons, even a burp gun—but half the time you're just mashing buttons hoping something connects. The "Cool-O-Meter" life bar cracks me up—lose too much coolness and you gotta find sunglasses or a skateboard to recover.

It's clunky, the controls fight you, and Sideshow Bob's final showdown at Krustyland feels impossible without save states. But there's something charming about how aggressively '90s it is. You can tell the devs just threw every Simpsons reference they could into six levels and called it a day. Definitely more fun if you're nostalgic for weird DOS-era licensed games.
