Game Overview

I first played The Terminator: SkyNET back in 1996, a Bethesda Softworks release for MS-DOS. It was one of those mid-90s shooters that tried to push 3D on home computers, with all the blocky textures and chunky polygons that came with the era. The game drops you right into the war against the machines, a direct follow-up to the films, and it really leaned into that dark, relentless atmosphere.

You control a resistance fighter, moving through outdoor and indoor environments, clearing areas of HK tanks and drones. The main goal is to sabotage Skynet's operations by destroying key objectives. You explore screen by screen, managing limited ammo and health while engaging in real-time combat against patrols and turrets. The pacing is tense; you are often outgunned and must use cover wisely. It feels like a desperate fight for survival where every shot matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
