Play ACE Air Combat Emulator Online

Jump in the cockpit, dodge missiles, and outmaneuver red blips on radar—no tutorials, just pure pixelated dogfights where throttle control means life or death. That radar lock scream still haunts me.

Game Overview

ACE Air Combat Emulator came out in 1985 for MS-DOS, developed by Cascade Games Ltd. It was one of those early flight sims that didn't try to be realistic, just fast and intense. You got a cockpit view, a radar, and a lot of enemy fighters to deal with, all without much hand-holding. It felt right at home on a machine better known for text adventures and simple arcade ports.

You pilot a fighter jet, engaging in one-on-one dogfights against computer-controlled opponents. The main goal is to survive each encounter, lining up shots while avoiding incoming missiles. Key mechanics include managing your throttle to control speed and turn radius, locking missiles onto targets using a persistent tone, and navigating by a minimalist radar display. The pacing is relentless; enemies attack quickly, and mistakes are punished instantly. It feels like a tense, high-stakes duel decided by split-second reactions.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
