Game Overview

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is one of those weirdly charming DS games where you play as a stretchy blue slime trying to rescue your entire village from a gang of masked bandits. The whole thing feels like someone took Zelda’s top-down dungeons and made them sillier—you bounce around like a rubber band, smacking into enemies and launching kidnapped slimes (and random cabbages) into the air to catch them. It shouldn’t work, but the physics are oddly satisfying once you get the hang of flinging yourself into walls.

Then there are the tank battles, which come out of nowhere but are ridiculously fun. You scramble to load cannons with whatever junk you’ve collected—barrels, swords, even your rescued slime buddies—and fire them at enemy tanks before they blast you first. It’s chaotic in the best way, especially when you realize you just accidentally launched a chicken as ammunition.

It’s short, it’s goofy, and it’s got more personality than most big-budget RPGs. The whole thing feels like playing through a Saturday morning cartoon.
