Dragon Spirit: The New Legend is one of those NES shooters that sticks with you—mostly because you play as a two-headed dragon breathing fire everywhere. You’re Prince Lace, and instead of doing princely things, you’re flying around blasting monsters, dodging weirdly shaped bullets, and occasionally running face-first into a boss that takes up half the screen.

The levels get wild fast—one minute you’re fighting giant scorpions, the next you’re weaving through a cave full of bats. The dragon’s fireballs feel satisfyingly chunky, and if you grab power-ups, you can even shoot in three directions at once (which helps when everything’s trying to kill you). Just don’t expect the story to make much sense—something about an evil resurrection and saving a kingdom, but really, you’re here to burn things.

It’s tough, but not unfair, and the music’s got that classic NES energy. If you like shooters where you feel overpowered until suddenly you’re not, this one’s a solid time.
