Dragon Spirit: The New Legend came out for the NES in 1990, published by Bandai. It was a time when side-scrolling shooters were common on the system, and this one stood out with its fantasy theme instead of spaceships. You control a blue dragon named Amul, who is actually a prince transformed, fighting through nine stages to rescue a princess from an evil demon.

You fly Amul left and right, firing shots at enemies like giant insects, floating eyes, and multi-stage bosses. Power-ups change your weapon; you can get three-way fire, lasers, or homing missiles by destroying certain carriers. The screen scrolls automatically, and the challenge comes from memorizing enemy patterns while avoiding dense bullet patterns. It feels fast and demanding, especially in later levels where one hit downgrades your weapon. Playing it requires quick reflexes and a good memory for enemy placements.
