Final Fantasy I & II - Dawn Of Souls (EU) is one of those old-school RPGs that feels both simple and deep at the same time. You start with a basic party, barely scraping by in battles, but after a few hours of grinding, you start seeing your characters actually hold their own. The dungeons are punishing at first, especially if you don't stock up on potions.
What I like about it is how straightforward it isโno convoluted mechanics, just turn-based combat and exploration. The second game changes things up with a weird leveling system where your stats grow based on what you do in battle. It takes some getting used to, but it's interesting once it clicks.
Final Fantasy I & II - Dawn Of Souls (EU) isn't flashy, but there's something satisfying about slowly building up your party from weak adventurers into heroes who can take on the final boss.
