Two key mechanics define the action: summoning various Espers to fight alongside you, which creates a kind of rock-paper-scissors dynamic with enemy types, and using the touch screen to quickly draw selection boxes around units to issue commands. The pacing is brisk, with missions that rarely overstay their welcome, though some boss fights demand careful unit composition and positioning.
