Game Overview
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is one of those rare DS games that actually makes the stylus feel natural—you control everything with taps and swipes, and somehow it just works. It picks up right after FFXII, with Vaan now piloting his own airship (finally, right?) and stumbling into a whole new mess involving floating islands and winged people called the Aegyl.
The battles play out like a stripped-down RTS—your little squad auto-attacks enemies on contact, but you’re constantly juggling positioning, summoning Espers, and activating abilities. The Ring of Pacts system lets you unlock new summons mid-battle, which is handy when you realize your current lineup just isn’t cutting it against some of the tougher bosses. And yeah, the airship acts as your hub, letting you hop between islands whenever you need a break from the chaos.
It’s not as deep as the mainline FF games, but there’s something satisfying about micromanaging fights with just the stylus while still getting that FF vibe. The story’s lighter too, but hey, after FFXII’s political drama, a breezier adventure feels kinda refreshing.
