Dodge lasers and snatch gems with clunky jetpack physics—those disappearing blocks still mess me up after all these years. The shareware version leaves you sweating by level 15.

Game Overview

Jetpack - Shareware is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow burned itself into my brain back in the day. You've got this little guy in a jetpack—no fancy backstory, just *go*—navigating these maze-like levels full of instant-death lasers, disappearing blocks, and gems just begging to be collected. The controls couldn't be simpler: arrow keys to move, one button to fire up the jetpack. That's it. And yet, some of those later levels? Brutal.

What I love is how each screen feels like its own little puzzle. Do you rush for the exit, or risk grabbing that last gem while a laser sweeps back and forth? The blocky graphics somehow make everything more tense—like you're one wrong move away from exploding into pixels. And yeah, the shareware version only gives you a taste (15 levels, I think?), but it's enough to make you wish you'd nagged your parents for the full version back in '93.

If you've got a soft spot for old-school platformers where precision matters more than flashy effects, this one's still weirdly satisfying decades later. Just don't blame me when you start hearing the jetpack sound effect in your dreams.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
