Game Overview

King’s Quest VI is one of those rare adventure games where everything just clicks—gorgeous (for the time) VGA graphics, actual voice acting (Robby Benson as Prince Alexander? Perfect casting), and a story that actually makes you care. You start off shipwrecked on this eerie island, and within minutes you’re sneaking past guards, solving weird fairy-tale logic puzzles, and trying not to get roasted by a literal minotaur. The CD version’s extra voice lines and animations make it the way to play if you can find it.

It’s also the last King’s Quest that still feels like classic Sierra—before the later games got too ambitious with their tech. The punny title’s a callback to King’s Quest III, but this one stands on its own. Just don’t expect mercy from the puzzles—some of them are brutal without a hint book.
