Game Overview

King’s Table: The Legend of Ragnarok is basically Viking chess, but way more dramatic. You’ve got Odin (yes, that Odin) trying to escape to one of the board’s corners while a swarm of black pieces tries to box him in. The whole thing plays out in this slick 3D style that feels like Battle Chess—pieces actually clash and fight when they capture each other, which never gets old.

At first, I kept losing because I underestimated how sneaky the black side can be—they’ve got numbers, but your white pieces move like chess queens, so you can pull off some wild escapes if you plan ahead. The flanking capture rule (you’ve got to sandwich a piece between two of yours) makes every move tense. And there are special abilities for some units, which I totally ignored until I got wrecked by an enemy berserker.

It’s one of those games where you’ll stare at the board for five minutes, make a move, then immediately realize you messed up. But in a good way. If you like chess but wish it had more axe-swinging and Norse mythology, this is your jam.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
