Game Overview

King's Table: The Legend of Ragnarok came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Mirage Technologies. It was a time when strategy games often blended board game logic with early digital presentation, and this one fit right into that niche without much fanfare. You might have picked it up from a bargain bin or borrowed a floppy from a friend; it wasn't a blockbuster, but it had its own quiet appeal.

You control Odin, moving him across an isometric chess-like board while avoiding or confronting enemy pieces. Your goal is to reach the opposite side safely, but it's not just about evasion; when you land on an enemy's space, the game shifts to a 3D combat screen where you trade blows in real time. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you scout paths and anticipate traps. Playing it feels like outsmarting an opponent who always has one more trick up their sleeve.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
