Kingdom of Templar is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow makes pixelated knights and castles feel epic. You start off with a tiny keep, a handful of grumpy-looking soldiers, and the creeping realization that everyone around you wants to stab you in the back—classic medieval vibes.

The combat’s simple but sneaky. At first, you just throw units at each other like a kid playing with toy soldiers, but then you notice archers melt if a horseman sneezes on them, and suddenly you’re rearranging formations like some paranoid chess player. The castles are janky little forts that somehow make you feel like a genius when you defend them or a total fool when you lose one to a bunch of peasants with pitchforks.

It’s got that old-school charm where the graphics are basically colored blocks, but your brain fills in the details—like how a few pixels charging at each other somehow becomes an epic last stand. If you’ve ever wasted an afternoon on Stronghold or the original Total War and miss that no-nonsense strategy feel, this’ll scratch that itch. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time trying to reclaim one more village.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
