Play Kingdom of Templar Online

You start with a crumbling castle and a ragtag army, trying not to get betrayed while figuring out why your archers keep getting trampled by knights. Those pixelated battles make you sweat over every dumb little troop placement.

Game Overview

Kingdom of Templar is one of those MS-DOS classic games from the early '90s that never got a wide release, but it has a small, dedicated following. I don't recall the developer offhand, but it fits right in with that era of strategy titles where you managed resources and troops from a top-down perspective. It wasn't flashy, but it had a certain depth that kept you coming back.

You control a fledgling kingdom, starting with a single castle and a handful of units like knights, archers, and peasants. Your main goal is to expand your territory by conquering enemy castles and managing your economy, all while defending against sudden attacks. The game plays out screen by screen, with each map representing a region to control or a dungeon to clear for resources. Combat is tactical; you position your units carefully because a misplaced archer unit can be quickly overrun by enemy cavalry. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty can be punishing if you expand too quickly or neglect your defenses. It feels like a constant, tense balancing act between ambition and survival.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
