Lords of Doom is one of those weird, ambitious Amiga games that throws a bunch of ideas at the wall—and somehow most of them stick. You start in Vertic, this dusty desert town that’s basically monster brunch central. Werewolves, vampires, the whole gang. Your ragtag crew—two locals and two monster hunters—has to clear the place out, room by room, while managing hunger, thirst, and the occasional puzzle.

At first, the pseudo-3D movement feels janky (it’s the Amiga, after all), but there’s something weirdly immersive about creeping through abandoned buildings, checking drawers for supplies while zombies shamble around outside. Combat’s real-time and messy—you’ll fumble with weapons while trying not to starve your party to death. And yeah, feeding everyone is as annoying as it sounds, but it adds this survival-horror tension that most RPGs skip.

It’s clunky, but in that late-’80s way where you can tell the devs were just going for it. If you like oddball hybrids with more atmosphere than polish, this one’s a trip.
