Play Megaman - The Wily Wars (Europe) Online

The 16-bit makeover looks crisp, but the stiff remixed music and barely-updated backgrounds make this feel like a half-hearted upgrade—controls are solid though.

Game Overview

Okay, so Mega Man: The Wily Wars sounds awesome in theory—three classic NES games bundled together with 16-bit graphics on the Genesis? Sign me up. But man, it’s kind of a letdown.

The visuals are sharper, but the backgrounds? They barely changed from the 8-bit originals, so it just feels like someone slapped a filter on them. And the music… oof. Those iconic chiptune tracks got butchered in the transition—now they sound like cheap MIDI versions you’d hear in a mall elevator.

Controls are tight, at least, and yeah, seeing Mega Man in 16-bit is neat if you don’t want to touch Mega Man 7. But honestly? Stick with the NES versions. This one’s not terrible, but it’s definitely the worse way to play these games.

If you’re a die-hard collector or just curious, go for it. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment.
