Play Puyo Puyo (Japan) Online

Stack colorful blobs, watch them pop with silly sounds, and panic as your screen fills up—simple at first until those chain reactions wreck you. The NES version’s a bit stiff, but that won’t stop you from yelling at a friend during 2P matches.

Game Overview

Puyo Puyo is that classic falling-blob puzzle game where you stack and match colorful blobs (they’re called Puyos, for some reason) before they pile up too high. It’s simple at first—just line up four of the same color—but then the chains start happening, and suddenly you’re frantically trying to set up combos while the screen fills up. The NES version feels a little clunky compared to later releases, but it’s got that weird charm where the Puyos make these ridiculous noises when they pop.

There’s no fancy modes here, just you versus the CPU or a friend if you’ve got someone willing to suffer through the chaos with you. It’s the kind of game where you lose three rounds in a row and still say “one more try.”
