Play Return of the Dinosaurs Online

You dodge chunky pixel dinos in slow motion, laughing at how a red rectangle with teeth somehow feels legit scary. That floating egg power-up makes zero sense, but you'll take the double jumps anyway.

Game Overview

Return of the Dinosaurs came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though I don't recall the developer offhand. It's one of those early '90s side-scrollers that feels very much of its time, with simple graphics and straightforward goals. You don't get a lot of backstory; you're just a person in a world suddenly full of dinosaurs, and you have to survive.

You control a small, agile character who runs, jumps, and shoots at dinosaurs across a series of side-scrolling levels. The main objective is to reach the end of each stage while avoiding or defeating enemies, and you collect floating eggs for power-ups like extended jumps or temporary invincibility. The pacing is methodical, almost slow, and the hit detection can be unforgiving, which adds to the challenge. It feels like a careful, tense dance through prehistoric danger, where every jump and shot counts.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
