Download Shinobi-X (E) ROM – SEGA Saturn Game

Dodge arrows mid-air, cling to ceilings, and slice through samurai with that satisfying sword swipe—feels like a proper ninja power fantasy without the clunky controls. The stealth bits actually work, letting you ghost past enemies when you're not in the mood for a bloodbath.

Game Overview

Shinobi-X on the Sega Saturn is one of those games that makes you feel like an absolute ninja badass from the first level. You start off with a sword, some shurikens, and this slick wall-jump move that actually works better than you'd expect. The enemies come at you fast—archers, samurai, weird shadow creatures—but the controls are tight enough that you can actually pull off those "no way I just did that" moments.

What surprised me was how good the stealth bits feel for a '90s action game. You can crouch-walk through tall grass, cling to ceilings, and sometimes just avoid fights entirely if you're sneaky about it. The soundtrack has that classic Sega synth vibe, all dramatic strings and punchy percussion that somehow makes throwing kunai at ninja dogs feel epic.

It's not easy—some of the platforming will test your patience—but nailing a perfect run through a level without taking damage is stupidly satisfying. If you miss when games were hard but fair, this one's a gem.
