Play Taitos Super Space Invaders Online

I first played Taito's Super Space Invaders on MS-DOS back in 1991, when it was part of the Classic Games series. It was a time when arcade ports were common, but this one stood out for its clean presentation and faithfulness to the original formula. Taito handled the development and publishing, and it felt right at home on a PC, even without the arcade cabinet's physical presence.

You control a laser cannon at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to shoot descending formations of aliens. Your main goal is to clear each wave before they reach the bottom or you run out of lives. Key mechanics include using destructible shields for cover, which gradually break apart under fire, and targeting the occasional UFO that drifts across the top of the screen for bonus points. The pacing starts slow but becomes frantic as the aliens descend faster and their shots increase; the difficulty is relentless, especially in later stages. It feels tense and satisfying, a pure test of reflexes and precision under pressure.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
