Game Overview

I remember playing Asterix: Operation Getafix back in the day, a 1989 MS-DOS release from Coktel Vision. It was one of those side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home on the system, with colorful graphics and a familiar cast from the comics. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it captured the humor and energy of the source material well.

You control Asterix, moving screen by screen through Gaulish villages and Roman camps. Your main goal is to gather ingredients for Getafix's magic potion while avoiding or confronting Roman soldiers. The gameplay involves jumping across platforms, collecting items like mushrooms and fish, and using your fists to knock out enemies. The pacing is brisk, with some tricky timing required for jumps and enemy patterns. It feels like a straightforward but engaging adventure, capturing the lighthearted chaos of the comics in interactive form.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
