Game Overview

Commander Keen: The Alphamatic is a fan-made episode released in 2017 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection. It was developed by fans of the original series, extending the universe of id Software's classic platformer without official backing. The game fits neatly into the early 90s DOS platformer tradition, offering a new set of levels that feel right at home alongside the official episodes.

You control Billy Blaze, the young genius behind the Commander Keen persona, navigating side-scrolling stages filled with alien landscapes and mechanical hazards. Your main goal is to progress through each stage, defeating enemies with your trusty raygun, collecting keycards to open doors, and hunting for extra lives and points. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen exploration, pinpoint jumping across gaps and onto platforms, and solving environmental puzzles to reveal hidden areas. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with instant-death pits and aggressive foes. It feels like rediscovering a piece of childhood, complete with all the challenge and charm you remember.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
