Double Dragon II: The Revenge hits way harder than the first game. Right from the start, you watch Marian get gunned down by Willy—no kidnapping this time, just cold-blooded revenge. It sets a darker mood, and suddenly those spin kicks you’re throwing at street thugs feel way more personal.

The NES version keeps the classic side-scrolling brawler action but tightens up the controls. You’ve got new moves like the cyclone spin (which I spammed way too much) and knee drops that actually feel satisfying to land. The levels throw everything at you—helicopters, falling platforms, even a weird floating head boss. It’s janky in that old-school way where you’ll curse the hit detection one minute and cheer when you finally wreck the last boss.

Definitely the Double Dragon game where the brothers mean business.
