Play Dragon's Lair Online
Guide Dirk the Dagger through animated screens, dodging traps and saving Princess Daphne by quickly pressing the right buttons in this action-packed adventure.
Dragon's Lair on the Game Boy Color came out in 2001 from Kemco, a time when handhelds were really stretching what they could do with action and graphics. It was a late release for the system, trying to capture a classic arcade experience on a much smaller screen.
You control Dirk the Dagger, a knight trying to rescue Princess Daphne from a dragon's castle. The game plays out screen by screen; you watch an animation start, then quickly press the correct direction or action button to react. If you're too slow or choose wrong, Dirk dies in a cartoonish way, and you restart the sequence. The objective is to survive each hazardous room through memorization and timing, making your way deeper into the castle. It feels less like traditional exploration and more like a rhythm test of your memory and reflexes. Playing it is a tense, trial-and-error process where success comes from learning each screen's specific trap.
