Fate was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection released in 2005 by WildTangent, a throwback to the era of dungeon crawlers that ran on home computers before 3D graphics became standard. It sits comfortably alongside other early action RPGs, offering a familiar but distinct take on randomized underground exploration without the polish or complexity of its bigger name cousins.

You control a custom hero, delving floor by floor into an ever changing dungeon, fighting monsters in real time with melee or ranged weapons, and managing an inventory of loot and potions. The main goal is to descend as deep as possible, defeating bosses and gathering gold and gear to become stronger; key mechanics include taming pets to fight alongside you, engaging in a simple fishing mini game for random items, and encountering unpredictable modifiers that can turn a good run into a disaster or a windfall. The pacing is quick and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, but finding a powerful weapon or a loyal companion creature makes progress feel earned through chance and persistence. It feels like a compact, chaotic grind where small discoveries carry real weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
