Game Overview

Man, Fate was this weird little MS-DOS dungeon crawler I stumbled onto years ago—way before roguelikes got trendy. You just pick a character, dive into a randomly generated pit full of monsters, and hope you don’t get wrecked by the first pack of bats you meet. The loot drops feel juicier than they have any right to be, and half the fun is finding some busted weapon early that carries you way further than you deserve.

Weirdly, the fishing minigame is unironically great? Like, you’d think it’d be pointless, but reeling in a cursed sword at level 3 is peak gaming. And the pets—sometimes your little wolf buddy ends up stronger than you, which is equal parts hilarious and humiliating. The whole thing has this janky, cozy charm, like playing Diablo’s scrappy younger cousin on a 90s CRT. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school, "why is everything trying to kill me" vibe.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
