Game Overview

Planet's Edge is one of those weird, ambitious '90s space RPGs that throws you in deep right away. You wake up on a lunar base to find Earth just... gone. Poof. No explanation. So you grab your crew, hop in a ship, and start poking around the solar system to figure out what happened.

The cool part? You switch between real-time dogfights in space (watch out for asteroids) and turn-based ground missions where you're solving puzzles or blasting aliens on foot. There are hundreds of planets to land on, and some have legitimately clever little mysteries—though others are just rocks with nothing but a few credits to scavenge.

Don't expect deep character progression—your squad doesn't level up like in Might and Magic. But the gear and ship upgrades make exploration addictive, especially when you stumble on a derelict freighter with a cache of rare weapons. Just don't get too attached to your first ship; space combat is brutal early on.

It's janky in that classic MS-DOS way, but the sheer scale still impresses me. You can tell New World Computing was swinging for the fences with this one.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
