You control the Turbokat jet, piloted by the vigilante SWAT Kats, through a mix of horizontal shooting stages and Mode 7 flight segments. Your main goal is to stop Dark Kat and other villains across various missions, which involves destroying waves of enemy aircraft and ground targets. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups to enhance your main cannon and missiles, and a limited supply of special weapons like napalm bombs for tougher enemies. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike sharply, especially during boss encounters that demand precise movement and quick firing. It feels like a straightforward, action-focused shooter that relies on quick reflexes and memorization.
