Game Overview

Arnie Savage: Combat Commando came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Celery Software. It was one of those straightforward action titles from the era, built for quick sessions and pixel-perfect reflexes rather than deep storytelling or complex mechanics. You knew what you were getting: a run-and-gun experience that didnโ€™t try to reinvent the wheel, just blow things up efficiently.

You control a lone commando moving screen by screen through enemy territory, clearing each area of soldiers, vehicles, and turrets. Your main goal is survival, eliminating all opposition to progress while managing limited ammo and health pickups. Signature actions include dodging incoming tank fire, lobbing grenades into entrenched positions, and frantically searching for medkits between enemy waves. The pacing is relentless; the difficulty spikes quickly, leaving little room for error. It feels like holding your breath through each firefight, relieved only by the brief silence after the last enemy falls.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
