Play Command HQ Online

Ditch the turns—this one throws you into real-time global wars where you’re scrambling to build armies and cut supply lines while the enemy pushes back. That modem multiplayer felt like wizardry in 1990.

Game Overview

Command HQ is one of those old-school strategy games that somehow still feels fresh—probably because it was way ahead of its time. You jump into different global conflicts (WWI, WWII, Cold War, even a weird 2023 alt-history scenario) and try to take over the world in real-time. No turns, just constant tension as you scramble to build units, manage resources, and outmaneuver the enemy.

The mouse controls were surprisingly smooth for 1990, and the interface keeps things clean—no clutter, just the info you need. What really blew my mind back then was the modem multiplayer. Yeah, you could actually play against a friend over a phone line, which felt like black magic at the time.

It’s not as flashy as later RTS games, but there’s something raw and satisfying about it. You can tell this was the blueprint for stuff like Dune II and Command & Conquer. If you dig strategy games with history twists, this one’s a hidden gem.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
