Game Overview

Dragon’s Lair is basically the reason we have QTEs today—except here, they’re not just button prompts, they’re the whole game. You play as Dirk, this hilariously awkward knight stumbling through a dragon’s castle, and every few seconds you’ve got to react to some ridiculous trap or monster. Miss the timing? Enjoy watching Dirk get flattened, roasted, or dropped into a pit.

The animation still holds up—it’s like playing through a Don Bluth cartoon, all fluid and dramatic. But be warned: it’s brutal. You’ll die. A lot. Half the fun is seeing the over-the-top death animations, though, so it kinda works. Just don’t expect to beat it in one sitting unless you’ve got the reflexes of a caffeinated squirrel.

It’s clunky, unfair, and weirdly charming—a relic from when games were more about spectacle than fairness.
