Game Overview

So this is actually Final Fantasy VI—the one we got called "III" back in the day because Square was weird with numbering. Tzepish's hack tweaks the SNES version to feel closer to the GBA release, with some quality-of-life stuff like better translation and rebalanced jobs. You start with Terra in that creepy magitek armor, and within minutes you're blowing up imperial troops while wondering why this girl can suddenly cast fire spells.

The party swaps constantly—one minute you're a rogue with a chip on his shoulder, the next you're a king pretending to be a gambler. Kefka's still the best worst villain, cackling his way through poisoning kingdoms just to see what happens. The Esper system lets you mold characters however you want, though I always give Edgar chainsaws because, well, chainsaws.

It's the last 16-bit FF, and it shows—that opera scene alone has more soul than some entire RPGs.
