Game Overview

Final Fantasy III on the DS is one of those RPGs that feels like it nails the old-school vibe while still looking surprisingly good for a handheld. You start off as this random kid who stumbles into a crystal cave—classic FF setup—and before long, you're juggling four party members with jobs you can swap anytime. Black Mage or Warrior? Monk or Red Mage? The choices actually matter, which I love.

The pixel art got a glow-up for the DS, so everything pops with these bright, chunky sprites. And yeah, the turn-based battles can get tough—especially some of those boss fights—but figuring out the right job combos feels weirdly satisfying. Just don’t expect voice acting or anything; it’s pure, nostalgic JRPG with a few quality-of-life tweaks.

If you’ve ever wanted to see where a lot of Final Fantasy’s job system roots began, this is a solid way to do it.
