Game Overview

Final Fantasy III (or VI, depending on where you're from) is one of those games that sticks with you long after the credits roll. You start off controlling a girl with green hair and a mysterious past, piloting a magitek armor through the snow—and within an hour, you're juggling a party that includes a runaway thief, a disgraced general, and a ninja with a very loyal dog. The world feels alive in a way few 16-bit RPGs managed, with little moments like townspeople gossiping about your party or optional scenes that flesh out characters when you least expect it.

Combat's classic turn-based, but the magicite system keeps it interesting—you equip these crystals to learn spells and boost stats, which means you can tweak characters to fit your playstyle. Want Sabin to suplex trains? Done. Prefer Terra as a black mage? Easy. And that soundtrack? Uematsu outdid himself. There's a reason people still hum the opera house melody decades later.

It's not all doom and gloom (though yeah, Kefka's a nightmare), but the way the story balances humor, tragedy, and sheer spectacle is why this one's still talked about. Just don't skip the raft scene with Banon—trust me.
