Game Overview

Shanghai II: Dragon's Eye came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Activision. It was a time when puzzle games were finding their footing on PC, offering straightforward, absorbing experiences without a lot of flash. This one built on the original Shanghai's tile-matching concept but introduced new boards and a more atmospheric presentation.

You control a cursor to select and remove matching pairs of mahjong tiles from layered layouts. The goal is to clear every tile from the board without getting stuck. Key mechanics include searching for free tiles (those not covered or blocked on the left or right), planning several moves ahead as layers are exposed, and working against the intricate "Dragon's Eye" puzzle designs that often require careful attention to tile layers. The pace is methodical, and the difficulty ramps up considerably in later stages, demanding patience and spatial awareness. It feels like untangling a beautiful, stubborn knot with your mind.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
