Game Overview

Strider on MS-DOS is one of those games that makes you feel like a total ninja badass from the first minute. You play as Hiryu, slashing through enemies with this glowing plasma sword called Cypher—it’s got this satisfying shing sound every time you swing it. The controls take a second to get used to, but once you figure out the cartwheel jumps and wall-climbing with his grappling hook, you’ll be flipping around like a cyberpunk acrobat.

There’s something weirdly satisfying about sliding under enemy attacks or timing a jump just right to crush them mid-air. And the power-ups? Grabbing those kanji symbols for health boosts or the temporary shadow clones (which are ridiculously overpowered) feels like unlocking cheat codes. The levels are these wild, sprawling things—Siberian tundras, flying battleships, jungles—all packed with little secrets if you poke around.

It’s tough, though. One wrong jump into a pit, and you’re back at the checkpoint. But even when you die, you’ll probably just mash "continue" because the movement is too much fun to quit. Definitely a classic that holds up if you’re into fast, fluid action.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
