Strider on the Sega Master System came out in 1991, developed by Tiertex Design Studios and published by Sega. It was part of that wave of late 80s and early 90s action games that tried to translate arcade energy onto home consoles, though this version took its own path compared to the arcade original.

You control Hiryu, a nimble operative armed with a plasma sword that cuts through enemies with a satisfying electric crackle. Your goal is to advance through a series of side scrolling stages, defeating bosses and navigating environmental hazards. Key mechanics include wall climbing, performing acrobatic flips to dodge attacks, and using your sword to deflect projectiles. The game moves quickly, and the difficulty can spike without much warning, especially when dealing with swarms of smaller enemies. It feels fast and a little rough, but landing a clean jump and slicing a robot in half still delivers a solid thrill.
